On October 11, 2015, Logan went to Rockport, Texas to compete in the state round of the Country Showdown and won first place. This achievement advances Logan to the southwest regional round for a chance to compete at the national round in Nashville. TN.
Fans of Rockne native musician Logan Tucker will be thrilled to hear that he recently won first place in the 34th Annual Country Showdown at Firehouse Saloon in Houston.
He performed two of his original songs in the contest, which took place on July 11. He will now advance to the regionals, which will be in Rockport on October 11.
Tucker has been writing songs and performing since high school, drawing crowds at local dance halls with his authentic country sound and memorable, original lyrics. He and his band also headlined dances at the Bastrop Homecoming and Rodeo and the fundraising dance for Relay for Life. After going away to college at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Tucker graduated and took a job as a Measurement While Drilling, or MWD, field engineer. He still continued to write songs and perform whenever possible, but being on-call and having to travel for his job made it difficult to book any gigs.
A turning point finally came this spring, when he made plans to be in the Larry Joe Taylor Music Festival’s singer/songwriter competition, an event he had been looking forward to for months. His job refused to give him the weekend off to attend, so he gave his two weeks notice and resigned, taking the plunge into committing himself full-time to his music.
He’s been taking that commitment seriously and staying busy playing acoustic shows. Just this past weekend, he played on Friday night in Stephenville at Legends Golf Club and Saturday night at The Boxcar in Hamilton. Friday afternoon, he had his first-ever radio interview on KWBY in Stephenville. Tucker also has a much-anticipated album coming out in August and plans to have an album release party in Bastrop.
Although he currently resides in Rockne and loves the Texas music scene, a recent visit to Nashville has him contemplating a move. While there, he visited with another Bastrop County-bred musician, now Nashville resident Chris Allbright.
“I like the town a lot and I thought ‘Why don’t I just go get right in the middle of everything?’” Tucker said, referring to the bustling music and songwriting scene.
Tucker has a new website, logantucker.com, and a new Facebook Page, Logan Tucker Music. Look for updates there (and in Rockne News) for his show dates and upcoming album release party.
